Murdoch Health Expert in Chile

posted 12 September 2017 | Student Announcement (student)

Dr Francesco Paolucci, Head of Health Policy at the Sir Walter Murdoch School of Public Policy and International Affairs, Associate Dean of Research and Associate Professor of Health Economics and Policy at the School of Business and Governance at Murdoch University, was invited to deliver a Keynote address at the international conference EISACH - Hospital Expo 2017 in Chile (30-31 August, 1 September).

His address focused on the challenges that most countries' healthcare systems are currently facing and in particular on their sustainability trajectories. His talk is timely considering the Sustainabililty Health Reforms agenda of many Australian States (eg. WA) and the Commonwealth. He also discussed globally-relevant opportunities and locally-viable options for countries to device and implement sustainable and durable solutions from a governance and economics perspectives.

On the 6th of September, he was invited to present a proposal to reform the Chilean healthcare system, written together with Carolina Velasco (coordinator for the health agenda of president and presidential candidate Mr Pinera), at the Centro de Estudios Publicos (CEP). This event and presentation are quite timely considering the upcoming national presidential elections in Chile, where health reform is considered the main electoral theme and likely the top priority for the country independently of which coalition will win the next elections (like in Australia and many other countries).

During his visit, Dr Paolucci has also given seminars and presentation at prestigious Universities for example University of Desarollo.
