New PVC Education Professor Kylie Readman

Murdoch University welcomes Professor Kylie Readman, our new PVC Education

Dear All

Murdoch University is delighted to have welcomed Professor Kylie Readman, our new PVC Education, on Monday 30th April. Professor Readman will be instrumental in helping us achieve the goals of the Students and Education Strategy, which is to provide an outstanding education experience for every student leading to our graduates being innovators fully prepared for their future careers. This is being achieved through developing an innovative curriculum; high quality academic leaders; enriched digital experience; and inclusive education and student support.

To date achievements have included:

  • Initiatives that centre on innovating within the curriculum to ensure that students’ journey includes a ‘career learning spine’ and opportunities for innovative and creative thinking;
  • Richer digital experiences being offered through our new partnership with FutureLearn;
  • Students and staff have more opportunities than ever to interact with one another, members of our broader community and employers through the introduction of the entrepreneurial collaborative space;
  • Students are leading development projects through the Students as Change Agents program;
  • Academic and professional staff, are working in partnership, to achieve the goals set out in the Students and Education Strategy through initiatives such as the Learning Excellence Academy (LEAD); and
  • Staff are being recognised for their learning and teaching through our strategic partnership with the Higher Education Academy.

Previously, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CUTL) has provided support for these services and initiatives. As we welcome new Pro Vice Chancellor Education, her portfolio will be responsible for activating and supporting these initiatives. Rather than having a Centre, from May, the activities will be delivered through five functional teams who will work with you to achieve the goals of the Students and Education Strategy in your areas:

  • Curriculum+,
  • Learning Innovation,
  • Support for Learning,
  • Access Pathways
  • Professional Learning.

In Perth, these activities and services will continue to be situated in the Geoffrey Bolton Library, with familiar faces you are used to working with.
