In your 1st year of study at Murdoch? The Peer Learning and Support Team is here to Get You Ahead.

All Murdoch students have access to three FREE peer learning and support services.

All of the following are FREE academic support services for Murdoch Students.

 

If you want to get the best grades or just want to get through we can help.

 

All of these services cost you nothing. 

 

 

Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)

Peer Assisted Study Sessions are a great way to learn from other students.

 

PASS is casual student-led supplement to lectures and tutorials. It’s run by trained students (PASS Leaders) who have already been successful in specific units.

 

Why attend PASS?

  • Students who attend regularly get grades 10% better than those who don’t!
  • Learn all the tips and tricks from past students.
  • Meet people in your course and have fun learning together.
  • Build new study and learning skills.
  • Create new networks and group skills.
  • An hour of guaranteed study a week.
  • Learn what’s important in the unit.

Currently available in 24 Units. If there is a big Green logo in the unit PASS is available.

Peer Academic Coaches (PAC)

The Peer Academic Coaches are successful students who offer free, friendly and individualised 20-minute drop-in consultations for all Murdoch students (Face-to-face or Online).

  

You can either drop-in to see one of the PAC team on Level 3 of the library foyer, or click below to chat to them online (we use Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, please use Firefox or Chrome as your browser).

 

The PAC team can help you with:

  • Getting Started at University.
  • Gaining essential Academic Skills (Reading, writing, planning, and time-management).
  • Early discipline-based skills and questions.
  • Navigating the learning management system (Find your way online).
  • Planning an essay or report (Assignments).
  • Interpreting assignment questions.
  • Referencing, in-text, lists, styles.
  • Assignment advice.
  • Improving structure of your written assignments.
  • Understanding statistics and maths (inc SPSS and R).
  • Help you develop arguments in writing.
  • Understanding Academic Integrity and discourse.
  • Improving your academic writing and structure.

English Language Acceleration Series (ELAS)

 

The English Language Acceleration Series (ELAS) of weekly workshops. These are for international undergraduate and postgraduate students to improve language skills in Business and Information Technology. Workshops are run by Indian and Australian student leaders. Sessions are free, friendly and fun.

 

If you are an International student who is beginning study in Australia, these sessions are essential to your success!

The Workshops Start in Week 2 of Semester.

There are workshops for Business Students and Information Technology students.

  

Will these workshops:

  • Assist in the Transition into University (Navigate Murdoch; LMS, Units, Assessments).
  • Help you know what is Expected and How to do well.
  • How to Read Faster and Understand English easier.
  • Assist you in improving and developing your Academic English skills.
  • Help you Succeedand Advance on your chosen study path.
  • Build Discipline-specificknowledge and skills, tailored for Business and IT.
  • Help you Adjust and Understand to the Murdoch
  • Help you build confidence in spoken English and Pronunciation.
  • Assist you in Avoiding Plagiarism.
  • Help understand how to write and what’s expected in Assignments.
