Calling all STEM champions and academics

Applications are now open for 2022 Premier's Science Awards and WA Science Hall of Fame!

These annual awards, now in their 21st year, recognise outstanding achievement in scientific research, study and engagement across WA showcasing our best scientists, STEM students, educators and engagement initiatives.

A new category has been added to the 2022 awards, ‘Mid-career Scientist of the Year’ sponsored by HBF, will recognise scientists who completed their highest degree between five and 15 years ago, who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields and are emerging science leaders.

2022 Award categories are:

  • Scientist of the Year ($50,000 prize);
  • HBF Mid-career Scientist of the Year ($10,000 prize);
  • Woodside Early Career Scientist of the Year ($10,000 prize);
  • ExxonMobil Student Scientist of the Year ($10,000 prize);
  • Shell Aboriginal STEM Student of the Year ($10,000 prize); and
  • Chevron Science Engagement Initiative of the Year ($10,000 prize).

Nominations are also open for the WA Science Hall of Fame, which recognises exceptional, lifelong contributions made by Western Australians to STEM.

WA Science Minister Roger Cook stated ‘these awards play an important role in establishing WA's future as a global hub for innovation. Science is at the core of the WA Government's Diversify WA strategy, helping nurture and develop emerging industries that create new jobs.

So, what are you waiting for!  With $100,000 in prize money up for grabs for winners, submit your application before Friday April 22, 2022.
