Published: 6th December 2022

You can now do a second major in the new Mathematics and Statistics qualification (Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Science) which is open for enrolment in Semester 1, 2023.

Mathematics and Statistics 630x380

Mathematics and Statistics is a universal language vital to understanding science, engineering, information technology and data analytics. Our Mathematics and Statistics graduates master that language, setting them up for a great career in a wide range of industries. A shortage of numerate graduates makes Mathematics and Statistics graduates highly employable.

Don't want to be a Mathematician or a Statistician? No worries – a degree in Mathematics and Statistics can take you way further than staying in your field of study. It sets the foundation for a whole range of different areas and is the starting point for many other degrees and career paths.

You can find a job in almost any sector including Business and Finance, Health (Bioinformatics and Epidemiology), Risk Analysis, Project Management Consulting ...and so many more.

As a Murdoch Mathematics and Statistics student you will learn from high achieving academics with a wide range of experience in teaching, interesting research and industry collaborations. In fact, you will find them really friendly and keen to help. You will also have opportunities to engage with experts from various industries and so gain valuable preparation and connections for a successful career.

This is a fully self-contained degree with no prerequisites beyond ATAR Maths Methods and includes options to accommodate pathways or lower-level high school maths.
