The Role

As a Sports Development Officer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering sports, recreation and community programs aligned with the Murdoch Active Strategic Plan to improve student experience, build community engagement and support sporting activities.

In conjunction with the Sports and Recreation Manager; you will be responsible for:

  • Establish, develop, and provide ongoing support to Murdoch University and affiliated sporting clubs and teams, including line management to areas such as sport officials, team managers, coaches, medical officers, and volunteers.
  • Implement and deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable sporting programs on campus.
  • Increase levels of student and staff engagement and participation across the programs.
  • Contribute to the promotion of Murdoch Active at external events, such as Murdoch Open Day.
  • Assist with planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating competitive sport and recreation programs such as:
    • Competitive Sport Participation for all levels of competition for students.
    • Attendance at Unisport National Events.
    • Assist with the running of the Elite Athlete Program.
    • Major Sporting Initiatives and Events held on campus involving participation or a level of competition.

Requirements

  • AQF Certificate IV and experience within a relevant field.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Relevant sporting league, event, and program delivery experience, including a working knowledge of competition management areas.
  • Experience in supervision of staff, including direct reports, casual staff, and volunteers.
  • Sound understanding of occupational safety and health issues.
