The Sustainable September Seminar Series is a lunchtime seminar featuring a different sustainability expert every Thursday throughout September.
The final seminar in the series features Dr David Zhang from Murdoch Business School speaking on The Eco-economy project: Improving the livelihoods above and below the surface.
The Eco-Economy Project, operating since 2021, partners Murdoch University with the NGO “Project Hiu” to help create a sustainable future for the Indonesian fishing community of Maringkik Island, located near Lombok, Indonesia. This work-integrated learning program provides Murdoch students of multiple disciplines with a unique opportunity to develop sound alternative business plans that help the community reduce its dependence on shark fishing.
