Join your fellow students at The Den for a special IDAHOBIT morning tea! Enjoy yummy snacks and hot drinks for FREE on Thursday 16 May, from 11am to 12pm. What’s more, the Den Team encourage you to connect with your creative spirit with friendship bracelet craft activities, and LGBTQIA+ themed badgemaking.
IDAHOBIT, or the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia, is a day dedicated to standing up against discrimination faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. It’s the anniversary of May 1990, when homosexuality was removed from the Classification of Diseases by the World Health Organisation. While it was an extraordinary milestone, the LGBTQIA+ community still faces discrimination and hardship today in the workplace, at school, and in the home. Getting involved with IDAHOBIT is a great way to commemorate the amazing progression we’ve made, while also raising awareness for the stigma and discrimination that still exists today.
So, come down to The Den, tuck into some free food, stay to try your hand at arts and crafts, and learn a little more about the history and meaning of IDAHOBIT. We’d love to see you there!
