Festival of Ngoolarks Date: 13 SEP 2024 Time: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Location: Northern Plaza at Boola Katitjin Add to Calendar: The Murdoch University School of Veterinary Medicine and Harry Butler Institute are proud to host the inaugural Festival of Ngoolarks on Friday September 13. Celebrate our iconic black cockatoos and learn how you can help them survive extinction. The festival begins at 4pm in the Northern Plaza at Boola Katitjin, Murdoch’s award-winning academic building. Come along and enjoy a range of activities: Listen to Noongar Elders sharing the cultural significance of black cockatoos; Explore stalls hosted by organisations involved with black cockatoo conservation including BirdLife Australia, Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, Perth Zoo, Urban Bushland Council WA, Harry Butler Institute and the City of Kwinana; Meet internationally renowned ceramist Fleur Schell and learn how her art is inspired by and draws attention to the plight of threatened wildlife; Watch a free screening of the award-winning documentary Black Cockatoo Crisis, by local film-maker Jane Hammond, starting at 5pm.
