The Young Carer Bursary is designed to support young carers who balance their studies with the responsibility of caring for someone. It's here to help make life a little easier, providing financial assistance for both education and care-related needs.
How much is the bursary?
In 2025, there will be 1,592 bursaries, each valued at $3,768.
How can you use the bursary?
The bursary can help young carers with various expenses related to both your education and the caring role, including:
- Buying a laptop for schoolwork
- Getting school uniforms or books
- Paying for transport to school or college
- Taking a break from caring responsibilities
- Joining in with school activities that cost extra
- Paying for some school fees
Who can apply?
You are eligible to apply for the bursary if you meet the following criteria:
- You’re aged 12 to 25 years old
- You're looking after someone who needs extra help
- You're an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- You live in Australia
- You're currently studying at school, TAFE, university, or another accredited education provider, or you plan to study in 2025
