The move reflects the University’s commitment to enhance our on-campus student experiences and supports the Student Wellbeing Strategic Plan 2025–2030 goals of increasing visibility and access to wellbeing services, creating a connected environment, and embedding wellbeing as a core part of student success.
Located in Building 390 (East Entrance, opposite the university entrance at Boola Katitjin), the new facility has been designed to make accessing health and wellbeing support easier than ever before.
The new premise offers patients a comfortable, inclusive and confidential space, and provides enhanced opportunities to our nursing students who will benefit from learning in a more comprehensive clinical environment.
With the extended physical space of the centre, the Medical Service will also see additional GPs join the team later this year. Keep an eye on the website for further details.
How the Medical Service supports our students
Our Medical Service is strongly integrated with the wider Student Wellbeing portfolio. Its primary focus is student wellbeing, specifically consultations for:
- General health, sexual health, vaccinations, and mental wellbeing.
- Referrals and collaboration with Murdoch’s Counselling Service, Access & Inclusion, The Den, and Murdoch Active.
- Referrals to Outreach Support (social work) for students with welfare needs.
- Nurse triage and First Aid.
Enrolled students can access the Murdoch University Medical Service to see a Doctor (GP) as a cashless service with a valid Medicare card or with most international health insurance providers. Some fees may apply for specialist procedures and consumables such as vaccines. There is no charge to see the Nurse, who is available daily as a walk-in service for first aid, sexual health screenings, healthy lifestyle consultations, and other health concerns.
The service is located in Building 390 (East entrance) and operates Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm. All GP appointments require a booking. Same-day appointments for urgent concerns may be available by calling the clinic at 8:30am.
