Published: 23rd February 2026

University is exciting and rewarding but can be challenging at times. Looking after your well-being while studying is essential for success, and we all need a helping hand sometimes.

Student support 630x380

Murdoch understands the many challenges faced by students and offers a range of support services to assist you throughout your student journey.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and need:

  • some extra study support,
  • someone to chat to,
  • assistance with tenancy and accommodation,
  • food and other essentials,

help is always available. Check out the different free services available for students across all schools and programs.

myMurdoch ADVICE – Your First Point of Contact

We can’t over-emphasise how important this service is to your university journey. Our Student Success Advisors can provide advice about your studies, wellbeing, how to get the most out of your university experience, and assist with a range of questions and concerns.

They are your first point of contact for support. If you’re ever in doubt, reach out to a Student Success Advisor or visit one of our myMurdoch Advice locations for help.

Academic Skills & Study Support Tools

Did you know that as a Murdoch student, you have access to a free suite of tools to help you strengthen your academic skills and boost your grades? We have a wide range of resources across many skills and courses, with support available both online and on campus.

Study Success Skills Toolkit

The Study Success Skills Toolkit is an online self-serve resource hub with information to help you improve your academic writing, grammar, teamwork, speaking, reading, and note-taking skills. There is also support for referencing and academic integrity.

The toolkit includes a range of interactive modules that you can work through in any order.

Numeracy Toolkit

If you’re studying maths or statistics units, you can self-enrol in our numeracy, maths and statistics modules for practice questions and resources.

Grammarly

All Murdoch students have access to a free premium Grammarly account. Grammarly analyses your writing and offers suggestions for grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and style.

Grammarly can be integrated into Microsoft Word — which Murdoch students also get for free — to assist in real time as you write your assignments.

Studiosity

If you’re studying early in the morning, late at night, or on the weekend and need support, Studiosity is available to help.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you can chat with a subject specialist for instant support. You can also submit an assignment draft and receive writing feedback within 24–48 hours.

As a bonus, Studiosity includes an assignment calculator tool to help you manage procrastination and stay organised during the semester.

  • You’ll find access to Studiosity in the “Extra Resources” section of every unit’s LMS site for 24/7 study support.

Assignment Workshops

Assignment workshops are held throughout the study period and are open to all students who would like to attend.

Peer Support

Sometimes you need advice from someone who has been in your shoes, which is why our Peer Academic Coaches and PASS leaders are so helpful.

Our Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) are successful students who offer free, individualised 20-minute drop-in or online consultations for all Murdoch students. Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are study groups for specific (challenging) units.

Murdoch Student Guild

Want to get involved in campus life and meet people with a shared interest? Check out the Murdoch Guild’s Clubs and Societies. There are over 100 clubs and societies to choose from, and if you have a new idea for a club, you can start your own.

Student Assist is a free support and advocacy service run by the Murdoch Guild. It offers assistance to students with tenancy and accommodation matters, referral information, food and other essential needs.

De-stress at The Den

From Monday to Friday in the Winter Garden, join the Access, Wellbeing and Equity team for a chance to connect and de-stress. Play outdoor games, board games, express yourself through art, or simply enjoy a cup of tea and spend time with our counselling dogs while meeting new friends.

All activities are free. Learn more here or email awe@murdoch.edu.au.

Access & Inclusion

Murdoch University’s Access & Inclusion service supports students with disability, physical or mental health conditions, or those who are carers for someone with disability, to enable equal participation in study. Support is tailored to your individual needs and may include coursework and exam adjustments.

Free Counselling Services

The Murdoch University Health Counselling Service is a team of experienced counsellors who provide confidential and free support to students experiencing a wide range of personal, psychological, and study-related concerns.

In addition, the After Hours Wellbeing Line offers free, confidential phone support outside business hours, providing students with 24/7 access to mental health support on 1300 806 852.

Medical Service

Murdoch University Medical Service has a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing services and advice to promote the wellbeing of the Murdoch community.

They are here for all students’ general health needs and questions, offering expert care in a friendly and professional environment.

Disclosing Discrimination, Harassment and Assault

Students who have experienced or witnessed sexual or non-sexual assault, harassment, or discrimination are encouraged, when they feel ready, to disclose to an SHSO in the Access, Wellbeing and Equity (AWE) team. Disclosures can be made online via incident notification form or via the Murdoch Safe App.

All disclosures may be made anonymously if you wish. However, the University may be limited in how it can respond if information is de-identified. The more detail you provide, the better we can investigate and offer appropriate follow-up.

You can find here an extensive list of Murdoch University support services and specific tips and support services for international students.

Remember, support is always available — you don’t have to navigate your university journey alone.
