Get Involved in Campus Conservation Activities

Help restore native habitats, connect with nature, and make a real impact on campus.

Every year, the Sustainability Office, in partnership with the South Eastern Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) and the recently reactivated Murdoch Environmental Restoration Group student club, organises planting and weeding events to enhance and protect our conservation areas of high biodiversity value. All training and materials are provided. 

Register your spot

Registrations are now open for teams of approximately 10-20 people, or individuals, to participate in the following events.

Conservation activities will take place from 9am – 12pm on:

  • Wednesday 20 May: Hand weeding and site preparation
  • Thursday 28 May: Planting at Banksia Woodland
  • Wednesday 3 June: Planting at Wagtail Reserve (Site accessible via path)
  • Tuesday 23 June: Planting at Chelodina wetland
  • Thursday 25 June: Planting at Banksia Court and Broadwalk (Site accessible via path)

Why you should get involved

  • Get to know the biodiversity hotspots on our South Street campus.
  • Build team connection and meet colleagues and students from other teams/study areas.
  • Connect with our natural areas and improve wellbeing.
  • Be active partners to achieve our shared sustainability goals.
  • Increase knowledge on conservation specific to Perth’s climate, plants & soils.

Who can join?

Students can volunteer as individuals or through their clubs. Family and friends are also welcome!

Students affiliated with MERG or other clubs with a registered Academic Transcript volunteer program can count this as a registered activity and should contact their club directly to seek approval.
