parkrun is a free weekly 5km community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. Whether you’re a regular runner, looking to get moving or simply want to meet new people, come along and be part of the Murdoch parkrun community.

The event is inclusive and friendly, with no pressure and no time limit.

The course starts near Boola Katitjin and takes participants through some of Murdoch’s iconic campus locations, including Bush Court, the University Village and the outdoor cinema area.

Professor Guillermo Campitelli, Pro Vice Chancellor of Health and Education, helped bring parkrun to Murdoch as part of the University’s vision to create a more connected and active campus community.

“The idea of parkrun is that it is a community event. It is an opportunity to have a healthy activity and have fun,” Guillermo said.

How to join

You can register through the official parkrun website to receive your personal barcode and parkrun ID. Once registered, you can use the same barcode to participate in parkrun events around the world,

including right here at Murdoch University.

 

View the Murdoch University parkrun course map to familiarise yourself with the 5km route before you arrive. Starting at the Boardwalk adjacent to Boola Katijin (green dot), running to the University village, looping back until Bush Court, crossing it, back to the boardwalk, then down to the outdoor cinema area, before looping back again for another lap and finally ending outside Boola Katijin’s entrance (black dot).

Participants are welcome to bring strollers on the run; however, dogs will unfortunately not be allowed due to campus bylaws.

You don’t have to run to be part of parkrun!

Our weekly event relies on volunteers to help everything run smoothly. Give around 90 minutes on a Saturday morning to get outdoors, meet new people and get involved in your local community.

Volunteer roles include marshals, timekeepers, finish token volunteers, barcode scanners, photographers and more. No experience is needed.
