Reserve Conservation Morning – Come and Help!

Date: 28th February 2013
Time: 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: South Street Campus

Help to restore and conserve one of the black cockatoo and quenda conservation reserves at the Murdoch campus. Students, staff and community are all invited. Join members of the Murdoch Environmental Restoration Group (MERG) and the University’s Environment team on Thursday 28th February from 9am, meeting at Car Park 8. Tree guard removal, weeding and general TLC for the plants will be undertaken.

All hands on deck are required to give the plants within our recently planted wildlife corridor some TLC.   Bring your friends and colleagues on 28th February from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm, or volunteer for as long as you can.  Meet at the Southern end of car park 8 to walk to the site together.  If you’re late or would like to volunteer a little later contact Neil on 0421 412 650 to find the site. Please wear enclosed shoes or boots.  BYO gloves or borrow some of ours.  Drinks and snacks provided.

You’ll get to discover our reserves, gain experience in plant knowledge and habitat requirements for Quenda, Black Cockatoos and other animals, enjoy some time outdoors and meet new people.  Students can register their time towards the 40 hours required for their Development Transcript (‘Environmental Management’ program) and develop skills such as communication, team-work and leadership.

For more information or to RSVP, contact the Biodiversity Grants Officer, Neil Goldsborough on 9360 6589 or n.goldsborough@murdoch.edu.au.
