This presentation is part of the MSEL (Murdoch Student Emerging Leaders) Talk series.

Special guest presenters:  “The Big Idea” Competition 2013 Murdoch Team  - Josh Martin, Cameron Desfosses, Amanda Elizabeth Morgan, Daniel Chadwick.

Last year the four Murdoch MasterClass students teamed up to compete in a national student competition.  It was the first time a university from Western Australia had entered the competition.

The competition, known as “The Big Idea” invited student teams to develop a concept and business plan for The Big Issue (a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and creating job opportunities for the homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged).  Student teams were  also offered access to social entrepreneurs, Australian ‘Thought Leaders’ and experts across a variety of business sectors to assist them with their brief.

The Murdoch team reached the finals in Melbourne late last year and whilst they were not the out-right winners, their idea impressed the Big Issue judges. The Big Issue is currently undertaking a feasibility study on the idea in the hopes of implementing it along side their magazine.

Find out about "The Big Idea" entry from Josh, Cameron, Amanda and Daniel.   More importantly, how they initially got involved and worked well together as creative and co-operative team finalists.
