Tree Planting – Volunteers Wanted: World Environment Day

Date: 05th June 2013
Time: 09:00 AM - 13:00 PM

Location: South Street Campus - meet at the Southern edge of car park 7, follow the signs.

Help plant habitat trees and shrubs in the Wildlife Corridor for Cockatoo and small animal refuge. Revegetation of this site began in 2007 and as well as beautifying the area, it creates habitat for quendas and small birds in this part of campus. There will also be another planting day on 22nd June in the Banksia Woodland, so come along to one or all events if possible.

We’ll supply: gloves and tools (though you can bring your own gloves and a spade/trowel if you have them), training and a free sausage sizzle afterward.  A range of tasks is available for different abilities.

BYO: sturdy closed-in shoes, clothing appropriate to getting dusty and for the weather, your drink bottle, hat.

Students: time volunteered will count toward your developmental transcript (40 hours required over a 12 month period).

Staff: please clear your attendance with your manager, as appropriate, and come for as long or as little as you’re able - ALL help is appreciated!

Community: everyone welcome, but children must be over 4 years old and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

RSVP to the Sustainability Officer, Leah Knapp on sustainability@murdoch.edu.au or 9360 6361 by 3rd June.  Please include your dietary preference/ requirements (e.g. vegetarian, halal, gluten free) so we may cater for you.
