Exercise training & Type 2 diabetes - Research study
posted 25 July 2017 | Student Announcement (student)
We are investigating the effect of exercise frequency on glucose control in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Here's your opportunity to get free supervised training together with free health assessments!
Regular exercise is key in managing high blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes causing your body to be more sensitive to insulin, becoming more efficient.
We are interested in assessing the effectiveness of cumulative treadmill exercise sessions on general health outcomes (fitness and body composition) and also those related to Type 2 Diabetes (glucose tolerance and immune function).
The use of consecutive sessions encourages the continued use of glucose, thereby increasing the muscles' efficiency to use glucose as an energy source.
If you are between the age of 18-65 years old, have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of greater than 27 and not involved in regular exercise, you may be eligible to participate in this study (additional inclusion and exclusion criteria may apply).
