International Day of People with Disability – Monday 3rd December

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. The theme for 2018 is empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.

IDPwD is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate Murdoch student and staff diversity, especially those with disability.

The most recent data indicates that 10.8 per cent of undergraduate and 7.6 per cent of postgraduate domestic students identify as having disability at Murdoch University, forming a significant portion of the Murdoch community.

The Equity and Diversity Committee at Murdoch University promotes and advocates for equity and diversity within the University community, as does the Disability Advisory Committee. Professional and academic staff strive to make education accessible through students’ experiences of enrolment; participation; curriculum development, accreditation and delivery; student support services; and the elimination of harassment and victimization.

Visit the IDPwD website for more information about how to get involved in the day. Please contact the Equity and Social Inclusion Office on 9360 6084 or equity@murdoch.edu.au for information on disability services for students.
