Australian Storytelling Study Tour Opportunity: Winter Unit The Australian Storytelling (EGL243) winter unit includes a 10-day tour of coastal and regional Australia to explore our unique places, nature, and the people who call it home. Come on the journey! Storytelling in Australia invites international and local students to unleash their own storytelling talents. Students will be introduced to Australian history, culture, landscape and people through an intensive, immersive course, which includes a regional tour of the North West of WA. Students will be required to engage with Indigenous knowledge, critical issues in contemporary Australia and our traditions of storytelling. You will be required to reflect on this experience by producing your own work in a creative genre, such as creative writing, journalism, photography, video or other mediums. The North West Trip: The region, called the Pilbara, is rugged, hot and dusty and will mesmerise you with its beauty and splendour. The mountainous outcrops are the oldest on earth and will impress you with their majesty. The Pilbara also has some of the most hardy fauna and flora, and you may come across a shy rock wallaby, the perentie lizard, the grey and the red kangaroo and many other unique Australiandesert animals.Shark Bay is one of the highlights of the field trip, and is one of the few places in the world that has achieved World Heritage listing. Here you can see dolphins swimming close to shore.Undoubtedly, the highlight of the tour is Karijini National Park. Hidden amongst Western Australia’s mining towns, this area remains pristine and its natural beauty is breathtaking. So remote, you will truly feel in the middle of nowhere and at the same time feel like staying forever. The gorges, sparkling freshwater pools and landscape will simply take your breath away and have to be seen tobe believed.
