Look out for wildlife when driving on campus

Published: 11th July 2019

Native animals are more active in the cooler weather. Please help protect our precious wildlife by sticking to the speed limit when driving on campus.

Quendas are marsupials that are regarded as 'conservation dependent'. They like the dense bushes round  the buildings and car parks of our Perth campus, and can dart out without warning.

Two species of Black cockatoos visit our campus. They are classed as threatened or endangered. When taking off from bushes near roads and car parks, they often fly low and are vulnerable to being hit by cars.

It's up to us to drive to the speed limit and watch out for native animals. Speed limits are 40kph on Discovery Way (25kph in front of the buildings) and 25kph in car parks.

If you do accidentally hit a native animal, please contact Campus Security on 9360 6262.
