Sustainable Development Challenge

Published: 13th December 2019

The inaugural Students Doing Good Sustainability Challenge was held from 30 November - 1 December.

Sustainability

Fifteen keen students, six staff and five industry mentors dedicated their weekend to work together to brainstorm, ideate and prototype their ideas about Murdoch University's most pressing sustainability issues, using the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals to consider and develop solutions.

While two winning teams shared prize money of $2,700, students said the real value came from working alongside industry mentors and gaining expert insight into Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their potential to drive solutions.

Participants left the event feeling better connected to other students who share their vision for the future and more knowledgeable about key professional skills, such as design thinking and presenting their ideas.

Planning has already commenced for the Students Doing Good Sustainability Challenge in August 2020. If you are interested in finding out more or getting involved, please contact the Sustainability Manager, Ms Leah Knapp, on 9360 6361.
