Dear students,
Interim Vice Chancellor Romy Lawson recently announced she will be leaving Murdoch University to take up a role at Flinders University. Professor Lawson’s final day at Murdoch University will be on 31 October 2021.
With the selection committee for the next Vice Chancellor having recently commenced interviews for the permanent position, the Senate is cognisant of the need to maintain consistency and stability during the transition to the next Vice Chancellor.
I am therefore pleased to advise that Professor Jane Den Hollander has been appointed to the role of Interim Vice Chancellor by Senate. Professor Den Hollander will be commencing as Interim Vice Chancellor on 1 November 2021 bringing her extensive leadership to guide the University while we transition to a new Vice Chancellor.
I know everyone across the Murdoch University community will join me in welcoming Professor Den Hollander to the role and will support her in ensuring we continue to maintain our focus on the University’s strategy, staff and students.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank Professor Lawson for her work as Interim Vice Chancellor following the departure of Professor Eeva Leinonen, and on behalf of the Senate and the Murdoch University community, I thank her for her years of service and commitment to Murdoch University and wish her well in her next role.
As always, I will keep you updated as we progress the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor.
Regards
Gary Smith
Chancellor
