The WA health sector has a longstanding record of safely linking WA Government data set s to enable researchers and policy makers to gain new insights and develop solutions that are tailored and forward-looking. However\, the WA public sector is one of only two jurisdictions in Australia without overarching l egislation that either protects people&rsquo\;s personal information\, or provides a framework for safely sharing information.

The WA Govern ment has announced its commitment to introducing new whole-of-government p rivacy and responsible information sharing legislation for the WA public s ector.
