Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) is your education number for life. In 2023 all students studying at our Australian campuses will need to have recorded their USI with us, without it you will not be able to enrol or graduate.
Who needs a USI in 2023?
- Domestic students seeking financial assistance and accepting Commonwealth Supported Places
- Domestic and onshore International students graduating in 2023 or beyond
How do I get a USI?
You only need your ID and a few minutes to spare. Get your USI now at www.usi.gov.au.
Already have a USI?
If you already have a USI but can’t remember what it is, go to usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi. There you will be able to search for your USI using your contact details.
Where do I record my USI at Murdoch?
Register your USI with Murdoch by going to MyInfo and,
- Selecting USI Verification under Personal Details menu item, or
- Going to the Self-enrolment Steps and choosing step 3 USI Verification
Why is my USI not verifying?
Your details need to match across MyInfo and the USI Registry. If your USI is not verifying, one or more of the below do not match:
- First/Given name
- Family name
- Single name (if you only have one name)
- Unique Student Identifier
- Date of Birth
You will need to update your details at either Murdoch via MyAnswers or at the USI Registry.
What happens if I don’t provide my USI?
If you are a domestic student you will not be able to enrol without a verified USI. If you have already been enrolled and are accessing financial assistance or hold a Commonwealth Supported Place, and you have not provided your USI by your census date, your enrolment will be cancelled.
If you are an onshore international student, you will need your USI to graduate.
What if I need help?
The USI Registry is able to assist you on 1300 857 536 or from outside Australia +61 2 6240 8740. Their contact centre is open between 8:30am and 6:30pm (AEST), Monday to Friday (excluding national and South Australian public holidays).
If you are having trouble getting a USI you can also visit The Student Centre.
