New improvements coming to our Handbook

Published: 17th August 2026

The Murdoch University Handbook is getting an update to make it easier for students to find and understand important information about courses, majors, co-majors, minors and units.

Handbook 630x380

Following extensive consultation, design work and user testing, the improved Handbook will be introduced in stages. This is the first thorough assessment of the Handbook since 2020.

What you need to know

Due to the large volume of curriculum information being updated, there will be some disruption between 26 and 30 August:

  • 26 August: The Handbook will be unavailable. You will see an outage message if you try to access it.
  • 27–30 August: Some curriculum information may be temporarily unavailable while updates are being made.
  • 31 August: The improved Handbook will be fully updated and operational.

Why is the Handbook being updated?

The Handbook is an important resource for students and provides key information about your course and units. It also helps the University meet its requirements to provide accurate and accessible curriculum information.

As part of the improvement process, more than 100 students and 60 staff members were consulted, with 408 pieces of feedback received.

The most common issues reported by students were:

  • Information was hard to find.

  • They did not know how to navigate Handbook easily.

  • Didn’t understand some of the terminology.

This feedback has helped shape the improvements being introduced.

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback and contributed to making the Handbook better for our students.

Please keep these dates in mind and plan ahead if you need to access Handbook information during this period.
