Annual vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza & it’s complications, which can be especially dangerous for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

Additionally, following a resurgence of influenza in 2022, seasonal influenza activity is expected to continue in 2023, making vaccination even more crucial.

In order to provide optimum immunity during Perth’s heaviest months for influenza transmission (June to September), Murdoch University’s Medical Service team will be offering free influenza vaccinations to all staff and students in early May.

Secure your spot

Bookings are essential, so make sure to reserve your appointment as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

To ensure everyone has the opportunity to get vaccinated, two sessions for flu vaccinations are on offer:

*Please note: Influenza Vaccine Consent Form must be printed, prefilled and brought with you to your booking.

Where to get your flu vaccine

This year, the clinics will be held indoors on the Murdoch Active basketball courts – please enter via the backdoor next to the tennis courts.

Eligibility

The vaccine is available to both Medicare and non-Medicare cardholders, as well as students with Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

Free RATs

Free COVID-19 rapid antigen test?(RAT) through the WA Government’s distribution program will be available for all staff members and students who receive their flu vaccination and can be collected on the day of your appointment.

Reminder: help prevent illness

In addition to getting vaccinated, washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or elbow are important steps you can take to prevent the spread of illness.

Thank you for doing your part to in keeping our university community safe and healthy.
