Education and Diversity: Canadian perspective

Dr Ratna Ghosh from McGill University in Montreal will present at the School of Education's Research Seminar Series on Friday 14 March.


Dr Ratna Ghosh is James McGill Professor and William C. Macdonald Professor of Education at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She was Dean of Education from July 1998 to December 2003. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.) in 2000, Officer of the Order of Quebec (O.Q.) in 2005, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (F.R.S.C.) in 1999. Her publications in books, journals and encyclopedias, her prestigious grants and teaching reflect her varied research interests. These include:

 

  • Multicultural education; race relations; human rights and education; identity.
  • Teacher education in cross-cultural perspective.
  • Women in comparative perspective.
  • The education of minority groups in comparative perspective.
  • Education and development.
  • The impact of globalisation and economic liberalisation policies on women and education.
  • Women in science, engineering and technology.
