The Big Issue, Big Idea Student Competition (on-campus information session) Date: 12th August 2014 Time: 01:30 AM - 03:00 AM Location: McCusker Conference Centre (Health Research Centre - Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases Building) South Street Campus Murdoch academic staff and students are invited to find out more about a national social enterprise student team competition, hosted by The Big Issue at an on campus information session. What is The Big Idea? The Big Idea is a social enterprise planning competition between undergraduate students at participating universities. It is hosted by The Big Issue - an independent, not-for-profit organisation that delivers solutions to help homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people to positively change their lives. Murdoch entered a multi-discipline student team last year, for the first time who managed to secure a place in the finals in Melbourne. More Murdoch teams are encouraged to take part this year and perhaps go one step further. The Big Idea invites students to develop a concept and business plan for a social enterprise that might become the next ‘Big Issue’. Lecturer Nino Sekyere-Boakye will be supporting the Murdoch teams through the process and is keen for undergraduate students from all disciplines to get involved. Nino has arranged a special on-campus Information Session presented by Danya Sterling (Manager – Education Enterprises at The Big Issue), from Melbourne, who will provide full details on the competition and answer any questions. The competition is a great way for students to showcase their innovation and team skills on the resume, as well as possibly make a real difference. Bookings are not required to attend the information session, but be early to get a good seat. Contact: Nino Sekyere-Boakye Email: N.Sekyere-Boakye@murdoch.edu.au Phone: 9360 6754
