Can you imagine anything more peaceful than the quiet hum of a boat gliding across the smooth water of the Canning River?

You may not know that Murdoch University even has a rowing club but it has been going strong since 1992 when, for the first time, the University was represented in the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Regatta. Shortly after the regatta, the Club acquired a boat-shed at the Amateur Rowing Association of Western Australia (ARAWA) Headquarters, on the Esplanade in Mount Pleasant.

Whether it's the thrill of speed or the camaraderie of shared experience, rowing is a sport with much to offer. It is the ultimate team sport and you can enjoy the team spirit as a competitor or just for fun.

There are fitness advantages:

Rowing exercises all major muscle groups: legs, arms, back, abdominal, and buttocks. Legs provide most of the power of the rowing stroke; your upper body adds the rest. Rowing is one of the few aerobic activities that can actually strengthen your back.

Rowing is a lifelong sport; you can start at any age and at any level of fitness.

Come and find out for yourself. Sign up to discover rowing
