Internet browser upgrade

As part of ongoing improvements to the University’s IT application suite, the Library and Information Services team will be performing version upgrades to all internet browsers on all Windows 7 computers.

Browsers include:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Firefox
  • Chrome

This upgrade activity will commence on 1 December 2014 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December. 

How will this affect you?

These upgrades will only affect Windows 7 Computers, if you are using a Windows XP computer, you should not be affected by this upgrade.

All of your personal settings like Favourites, Bookmarks and custom tool bars will remain unchanged and there are minimal visual differences between versions.

If your computer currently does not have any of these internet browsers installed, they will be installed for you during the upgrade process.

The upgrade process should take less than 10 minutes for your computer to complete.

After this upgrade, all of the installed internet browsers will be configured to automatically update whenever newer versions are available. 

What do you have to do?

You will be required to acknowledge some prompts during the upgrade process.  These will either be a prompt to commence the upgrade (installation) or a request to restart your computer.  Please ensure that you have saved your current work prior to confirming the restart request.
