Honorary Degree Nominations Closing at 4pm Today
posted 17 March 2015 | Staff Announcement - (staff)
Members of the University are invited to put forward nominations for the award of an Honorary Degree by 4.00pm today, Tuesday 17 March 2015.
An Honorary Degree is our highest, most prestigious award used to honour distinguished scholars and public intellectuals and citizens who have made outstanding achievements or contributions in a particular field. The doctorate can also be awarded to recognise outstanding contributions to the University or the wider community.
These awards not only benefit the recipients. They also provide an opportunity to enhance the University’s reputation locally and internationally by demonstrating our links with the distinguished recipients. The awards can be exciting for the University community and can often attract positive publicity.
We are now seeking nominations for consideration by the Honorary Awards and Ceremonial Committee.
Nominations should benefit Murdoch’s standing both in Australia and overseas. Each nomination should be accompanied by a supporting statement providing information to assist the consideration of the nomination. To nominate a person for an Honorary Degree please fill out the nomination form.
The Award of Honorary Degree Policy and previous recipients in relation to the awarding of Honorary Degrees can be found on the Murdoch website.
A candidate must not be consulted about or advised of the nomination, at any stage prior to the formal offer of an award to the candidate, and the Committee will treat all nominations confidentially.
I look forward to your assistance in this important process. Please email your completed nomination form to Trudi McGlade. If you have any questions in relation to this process, please contact Trudi by email or by phone on ext 7318.
