Get the 2015 Influenza Vaccine at Murdoch University Health: Medical

posted 24 March 2015 | Staff Announcement - (staff)

Murdoch University Health: Medical has appointments available from 7 April for the 2015 Influenza Vaccine.

There are many different types of flu viruses and the flu vaccine is designed to protect against the main strains of flu that research inidcates will cause the most illness during the flu season.

You should ideally have your vaccination in the months of March, April and May before the onset of the flu season. Protection against the seasonal flu develops about two weeks after the injection and lasts for up to one year.

Appointments are available for staff to have their annual influenza vaccine via Murdoch University Health Medical Service, Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 10am from 7 April.

An appointment can be made by calling our friendly administration team on 9360 2293 during normal business hours. You will be asked to complete a consent form prior to seeing the nurse and we ask that you wait in the clinic 15 minutes, post vaccination to ensure you do not experience any adverse reactions.

The annual immunisation against the flu is free for:

  •     Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander people 15 years and older
  • Pregnant women- at any stage of pregnancy
  • People 65 years and older.

For all other staff the cost of the influenza vaccine is $25.

Murdoch University Health Medical Service is located in building 418, underneath the tavern.
