The Big Issue Student Team Competition: "THE BIG IDEA" is Back for 2015

posted 11 August 2015 | Staff Announcement - (staff)

Want to increase the employability of promising undergraduate students?

Employers are often keen to see evidence of both team and enterprise skills in graduates.  By encouraging talented undergraduates to sign up for The Big Idea (a national social enterprise student competition), they can showcase what they have to offer in a meaningful way to future employers, as well as benefit the community. You simply need to get the word out.

The Big Issue (an independent, not-for-profit organisation that helps to change the lives of homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people) is hosting The Big Idea national university competition again this year. The Big Idea invites undergraduate students to work in small teams to develop a concept and business plan for a social enterprise that might become the next ‘Big Issue’. Lecturer, Dr Arif Sikander will be supporting the Murdoch teams through the process and is keen for undergraduate students from all disciplines to get involved. The competition is a great way to showcase innovation and evidence team skills to future employers, as well as possibly make a real difference. Competition dates for 2015 still to be confirmed. Undergraduate students who are keen to find out more and get involved are encouraged to contact Mr Sikander via Email: a.sikander@murdoch.edu.au
