LIS Organisational Separation

Library and Information Technology Services
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to advise that the Vice Chancellor and Senior Leadership Group have approved the separation of Library and Information Technology Services (LIS) effective from Monday August 31st 2015 into two separate entities – the University Library and Information Technology Services (ITS).
The separation of LIS is the result of consultation with staff and stakeholders, alignment of Library and ITS operational plans with the University’s Strategic Plan 2012-2017 and continued growth and evolution of the library and ITS. Provision of a more innovative and effective and customer focussed library and information technology service has also been an important consideration in the decision to separate LIS into two separate directorates.
Services that are currently provided by the Library and ITS, including the IT Service Desk and the Library Enquiries Desk, will continue to operate as usual and organisational restructure will be minimal with IT Client Services moving to the ITS directorate from Monday 31st August, 2015.
A recruitment process for two new positions of Director, Information Technology Services and University Librarian will also commence shortly to support the LIS organisational separation.
I look forward to providing further updates as we improve and grow library and information technology services at Murdoch University.
