Please find below an announcement from Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Taggart regarding Emeritus Professor Geoffrey Bolton's funeral arrangements.
Dear Colleagues
I would like to provide you with some information regarding funeral arrangements for Prof Geoffrey Bolton.
Prof Bolton’s family have requested a private funeral. There will also be a State Funeral in two to three weeks’ time and I will advise of the date as soon as the University is notified.
In today’s The West Australian newspaper, there is a notice from our Murdoch University family to the Bolton family. I have included the notice below:
Murdoch University Senate, Acting Vice Chancellor, staff and students extend their deepest sympathies to Carol, Patrick and Matthew; family and friends.
Prof Bolton was one of Murdoch’s most iconic figures and foundation professors and will live on forever in the history of our University. He did more than any other scholar to help Western Australians interpret their past and relate it to the present, and his contribution to the State’s and University’s history will always be remembered.
He will be remembered for being a fundamental contributor to the success of Murdoch through his numerous roles including Chancellor.
A Murdoch and WA icon, historian, socio-political commentator, historical writer, gentleman, mentor, friend and colleague – we will always remember Prof Bolton and will ensure his contribution to our University lives on.
The Murdoch University community.
Andrew Taggart
Acting Vice Chancellor
