Nursing Simulation Laboratories come to South Street
posted 16 February 2016 | Staff Announcement - (staff)
Construction of the Nursing Simulation Laboratories at the South Street campus has been successfully delivered.
The first phase of the South Street Clinical Simulation Suite was completed in time for the commencement of 200 students enrolled in their first year of the Bachelor of Nursing.
Situated in the old Murdoch College complex, this clinical laboratory comprises state of the art simulation facilities that include tutorial space, a seven bed open ward area with adjacent bathrooms, a nursing station, drug, treatment and utility areas. Two control rooms allow the coordination and observation of simulation in the ward area and two specialist high fidelity simulation rooms. These areas are supported by office, storage and preparation areas.
Building for the second phase, which is needed to prepare students for their hospital and community nursing placements across all three years of the program, should be completed by October 2016.
Tours of the new Clinical Simulation Suite will be available to interested staff from 10.30 to 1.30 on Tuesday 15 March, ahead of an official opening later in the year. The tours will be advertised shortly and booking is required.
