Work experience program with Applecross Senior High School
posted 26 April 2016 | Staff Announcement - (staff)
Domestic External Engagement is seeking expressions of interest from staff to host a work experience student on campus from Applecross Senior High School for one week.
The Domestic External Engagement team is working to establish a partnership between Murdoch University and Applecross Senior High School and in doing so, is asking staff for expressions of interest in supervising students in a Year 10 Work Experience Program.
The University is looking to place Applecross students in a one week block from 12 to 16 September or 19 to 23 September.
This placement allows the University to promote specific courses and industries, engage with a large, local and academically strong performing school, contribute positively to the local community and influence and inspire young people in their career choices.
Furthermore, hosting a work experience student can assist in the development of management skills for staff and increase the level of short-term resource on a project.
For the student being placed, a work experience placement can prove to be invaluable opportunity to explore possible career options, develop an understanding of the work environment and employer expectations, increase motivation to continue studying and assist students in making informed decisions about their future options.
We are seeking placements in a variety of roles including (but not limited to) administration, events and marketing, sport and recreation, laboratory-based, maintenance, hospitality, information technology, childcare and library services.
If you would like to express your interest in supervising a work experience student please email the Domestic Engagement Team at engage@murdoch.edu.au with your preferred week and the number of students you wish to supervise before Friday 6 May 2016.
