Yammer is an internal social collaboration tool powered by Microsoft boosting organisational communication and collaboration.

It’s a simple way to get in touch with colleagues, ask questions, share project information and celebrate success.

Think of it as an open discussion forum for staff, where your questions and comments can be seen and replied to by other Murdoch Yammer members.

You can access Murdoch’s private Yammer network online using your University email account – instantly connecting with other staff users to share knowledge, expertise and experience.

There’s a bunch of benefits from getting on board with Yammer:

Collaboration
By providing a common channel where colleagues can share knowledge and best practice, upload documents, or spark general discussion, Yammer provides a platform to boost collaboration across teams, schools and offices.

Communication
Yammer opens up communications channels between teams, schools and offices by connecting staff to one another and the information they need. Pose a question to the Murdoch network and chances are those ‘in the know’ will be on hand to provide answers or at least point you in the right direction.

Productivity 
Open discussion and collaboration is an efficient way to get the information you need. Yammer helps individuals and teams connect with colleagues fast, delivering information or suggesting alternative ways to find it! You may even notice a reduction in emails as conversations move away from your inbox and into your Yammer feed.  

Socialisation
While Yammer brings a bunch of work-related benefits, it’s also a great social tool for staff. Get to know colleagues better and even create dedicated groups for casual discussion on common interest like music, movies, hobbies or sports!

Get involved in the conversation
Becoming part of Murdoch’s Yammer discussions is easy as one, two, three…

  1. Head to www.yammer.com, enter your Murdoch email address and click ‘Sign Up’.
  2. Check your Murdoch inbox for a confirmation email and complete your registration.
  3. Be whisked across to Murdoch’s very own Yammer feed where you can tailor your profile, start connecting and contribute to new or existing conversations. 

Be sure to add a photo to your Yammer profile – so people are be more likely to engage with you!
