LMS upgrade and theme refresh coming in July
posted 24 May 2016 | Staff Announcement - (staff)
Contemporary look and feel and feature enhancements are coming.
A mid-year Learning Management System (LMS) upgrade to Moodle v3 is set to deliver a more contemporary look and feel, together with some feature enhancements.
The upgrade's functional enhancements are mostly small improvements to existing features:
- Improved Gradebook features
- New Grades Dashboard showing grades across all units
- New improvements to Forums, such as 'liking' forum posts
- Improvements to Quiz functionality
- Enhanced Lesson activity
This upgrade includes a new Moodle theme aimed at delivering a look and feel consistent with contemporary web design.
A focused stakeholder group, including web design staff and students from the School of Arts, is contributing to the design. Importantly, while the new theme will look different to users, it’s expected staff and students will adapt very quickly.
The CUTL and ITS/BAS teams have scheduled this upgrade for Wednesday 20 July, including a two-hour maintenance window from 6.00am – 8.00am WST.
Further details about the upgrade, including previews of the new theme, will be shared via this and other communication channels between now and the date of the upgrade.
