Stop the Funding Cuts Date: 14th May 2013 Time: 12:00 PM - 13:00 PM Location: Bush Court South Street Campus Join us to protest the $4 billion funding cuts to Universities: Tues May 14, Bush Court @ 12 noon. Since Julia Gillard’s announcement on 13 April that the government would look to make savings of up to $4billion from higher education in order to fund the Gonski education reforms in schools, university staff and students have supported actions all over the country to voice opposition to the cuts. Murdoch is having an event in Bush Court on Budget Day Tuesday May 14, from 12pm. We are asking all staff and students to come along and sign a postcard to Gillard, letting her know why you oppose the cuts, and we will be delivering these to her in person! This action will be happening simultaneously at other branches in WA as part of the National Protest on this day. Please come down and support the campaign, sign a postcard and tell Gillard to stop the Cuts! All members of the University community need to come out and raise their voices in opposition to these cuts. All too often the sector has taken cuts to funding under the premise of making a contribution, but there is really starting to be little left to ‘trim’. Universities Australia and the National Union of Students have joined NTEU in the public campaign against the cuts.
