posted 23 August 2016 | Staff Announcement (staff)
Murdoch University was saddened to learn of the untimely death of Dr Kristina Medigovich, from the School of Health Professions, on Thursday 11 August.
Kristina commenced at Murdoch University in what was then the School of Nursing in 2003, as part of the inaugural team that set up the School and teaching acute care in the Bachelor of Nursing Program.
Over the next ten years she taught into almost all subject areas within the degree until progressing onto coordination of the nursing postgraduate progams, establishing the growing Masters of Health Care Management program. Her research interests were in the areas of acute and chronic care, nursing education and practice, professionalism and the educational experience of international nursing students.
Kristina’s early career as a Registered Nurse was spent working in acute care areas, mainly in Cardiothoracics and Acute Medicine. During her career in acute care she had a number of roles including Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Manager and Nurse Researcher/Project Manager. Over the years Kristina represented her discipline on many external professional Nursing Committees.
This is a very sad time for the nursing discipline within the School of Health Professions. Kristina will be remembered for the immense amount of work, energy and vision she put into educating the nurses of tomorrow and today’s post graduates and we were all very privileged to have known and worked with her.
She will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Kristina's family.
