Day-to-day, our students are challenged with absorbing a lot of new and interesting information. Over the past year they have told us that things could be made easier for them when trying to work out where they need to be and when.

Our first step into making things easier for our students was the recent introduction of the Murdoch Maps web app, which supports them with navigating around the Perth (South Street) Campus.

 

Our second step has been to integrate this navigation functionality into the refreshed MyUnits and new MyCalendar part of the Student Portal and add a more user-friendly interface to these MyMurdoch Portal sections.

The new functionality includes:

 

MyCalendar

• A personal calendar section all to itself (which was integrated into the MyUnits section previously)
• A refreshed; more modern look to the section
• Weeks added to illustrate which semester week it is (as these are different across some disciplines)
• One tap - event pop up, to view the event details, including title, location, semester weeks the event is applicable to
• Event specific location details link straight into Murdoch Maps to get the best pathway to that location

MyUnits

• Movement of the full calendar view out to its own section
• New 'What’s On' quick view of what is on now, today and tomorrow, plus the current teaching week, in one pane
• Event specific location details link straight into Murdoch Maps to get the best pathway to that location

Both of these section refreshes have a simplified view available to support mobile device users.

These options are available to Students now; please encourage the use of these to help make our students lives easier!

 

Coming soon our students will be able to synchronise their Personal Calendar to various other calendar services and devices such as iPhone, Android, Google, Outlook and more, using the iCalendar standard.
