New Process - Electronic Marking of Computer Answer Sheets

From 1 January 2017 there is a new process for the marking of Computer Answer Sheets used in exams and mid-term tests. Special stationery is no longer required. Forms are scanned IN GRAYSCALE (not black and white) and uploaded for processing.

The service is provided by ACSPRI (Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research Inc.) of which Murdoch University is a member. The Computer Answer Sheet is similar in format to those used in the past, but on plain paper. Forms are completed in blue or black pen. The new process is as follows:

  1. Unit Coordinator (UC) creates the exam record and answers on the processing website.
  2. A confirmation email is sent to the UC, including an Answer Sheet upload link.
  3. The UC, or delegate, collects the Answer Sheets after the exam.
  4. The UC or delegate scans the sheets IN GRAYSCALE* to PDF.
  5. The UC uploads the PDF file for processing using the Answer Sheet upload link. 
  6. The forms are processed and the results released within one business day, usually within hours. 
  7. The UC is sent an email with links to the results and analysis. 

*If scanning is not done in grayscale, processing will take longer to complete.

 

Emails from the service will only be sent to Murdoch email addresses. To have emails directed to a non-Murdoch email address, you must create a rule within your Murdoch email account to forward emails to the email address you prefer to use. Please contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.

Uploaded datafiles are date and time-stamped and the IP address recorded.

The date, time and IP address are recorded when when results are accessed. The results download links expire once clicked. A request can be submitted via email for the links to be available for download again.

ACSPRI charges for hosting, processing, support and maintenance (around 30 cents per form) will be charged to Schools quarterly.
