Want to do your bit for the environment in beautiful surroundings? Murdoch's famous community tree planting events kicks off soon and we need you to help us get 3,500 native seedlings in the ground between April and June. All tree planting events are free and offer a BBQ lunch, but RSVPs are essential.

Bring your family and join us as we plant native shrubs and trees in the beautiful Beeliar Regional Parks reserves on campus- Melaleuca Swamp and Chelodina Wetland and bushland areas.

 

We'll supply all tools, materials and a free healthy BBQ lunch and refreshments. You only need to bring gardening gloves (if you have them), a water bottle, and wear suitable clothes and enclosed footwear.

 

Community Tree Planting events will be held on the following dates:

29 April: Melaleuca Swamp. This reserve is in the middle of the Vet Farm paddock and is generally not available for public access. It's a special place full of mystery!

 

5 May: Frog Swamp. In a first for the University, join us to plant more than 800 seedlings and advanced marri saplings in the small reserve to the east of the Sports Fields, at the roundabout of Campus Drive South. Plantings here will improve water quality in this infiltration basin site, and contribute to protection of our groundwater dependent ecosystems. 

 

3 June: to celebrate World Environment Day, come plant both wetland and dryland species in Chelodina Wetland and bush areas around it.
