A two-day learning and teaching event exploring how in an ever-changing world we can play a role in developing the enterprise skills needed for student success.

I am delighted to invite you all to take part in this year’s Learning & Teaching Forum: Career Learning for Employability – a two-day learning and teaching event exploring how in an ever-changing world we can play a role in developing the enterprise skills needed for student success.

 

We know:

• Employers prefer ‘moldable graduates’; people who are able to thrive in the fast-changing, uncertain future, because of their aptitude, agile mindset and ability to create their own destinies; and
• Students look to their university experience to prepare them not only with knowledge and skills but with access to workplace experiences to improve their future career prospects.

 

As a University, we have a pivotal role in helping to prepare our graduates for a future which will be characterised by multiple careers, where agility, adaptability and creativity will be essential to their success. We need all our graduates to have the opportunity to learn the skills to be digitally-literate, financially-savvy, team players with effective communication, innovative and adaptable to help them navigate complex careers of the future and thrive in every aspect of their lives.

 

This event will include international keynote speakers/ workshops/panels:

• Emeritus Professor Chris Rust (Oxford Brookes, UK) – Transforming course assessment
• Lorna Froud – (Reading, UK) - Articulating the relationship between ‘graduate attributes’ and employability
• Associate Professor Jessica Vanderlelie (IRU VC Fellow) – Student and Graduate Success
• Doug Cole (Higher Education Academy, UK) - Embedding Employability in Higher Education - Are we getting it right?
• Students voice/ industry perspective panel

 

There is also an opportunity for you to showcase your work in this area of career learning/ employability. Expressions of interest are sought for a plenary Pecha Kucha session. If you would like to be involved in presenting at the forum please submit a short (250 words) abstract to N.Rahilly@murdoch.edu.au by June 9, 2017.
