Our very own Jackie Brown from the School of Health Professionals is taking up this challenge in the 2019 charity event and needs your help! The Bright Blue Gibb River Postie Bike Ride is an adventure with a difference, with riders using Australia Post postie bikes to complete the trip. The ride takes in the epic scenery of the Kimberley, whilst negotiating creek crossings, unsealed roads and sleeping under the stars. As a Mum of 8 and Granny to 4 (nearly 5 !) Jackie Brown knows what a struggle it is when little people are not 100% healthy. The impact on children and their families is huge and Bright Blue work hard to make life that little bit easier for everyone. The money raised from this event will go directly to our Bright Blue projects which include supporting brain cancer research, creating brighter futures for victims of burns and putting smiles on the faces of sick children in hospital. Some notable areas they are involved in are: Supporting new drug discoveries into childhood cancer research at the Children’s Cancer Institute Working with Interplast; an Australian charity, to assist with sustainable surgeries for kids living with burn contractures and cleft lip and palette in Mongolia; Working with Radio Lollipop – helping put smiles on the faces of children when they need them most. So please, if you are able to assist in any way at all, every little bit helps.
