Public lecture series and exhibition to explore human impacts on the environment The latest scientific insights into human-caused environmental change will be highlighted at a free public lecture series featuring Murdoch researchers, beginning on 6 March. The lecture series is part of a crowd-funded project NowHere: the Decisive Moment which also includes an exhibition of aerial photography of Western Australian landscapes by former Murdoch PhD candidate Gwenaël Velge. The lectures will be organised around three themes: science, art and culture, and politics. Each of the lecture events will follow a seminar format that includes presentations from local experts and dignitaries, followed by an extended Q&A session. Hosted at the National Hotel in Fremantle, the first lecture will feature speakers including Murdoch fire ecologist Dr Joe Fontaine and Dr Neville Ellis, co-organiser of NowHere: the Decisive Moment, and an Honourary Associate of the Centre for Responsible Citizenship and Sustainability (CRCS) at Murdoch. Doors open at 6.30pm. The second public lecture, focusing on arts and culture, will take place on 17 April, and the third on 15 May, will cover politics. Both lectures and the exhibition will also be hosted at the National Hotel. The CRCS is major sponsor of the project, and its co-founder Dr Martin Brueckner will be part of a panel of speakers at the third public lecture.
