Join us for Earth Hour Please join me in celebrating Murdoch University’s Earth Hour on Friday 29 March, from 12pm-1pm. I invite you to turn off your computer and peripherals, lights and other electric items and bring your picnic lunch to Bush Court during this time to enjoy live acoustic music, lawn games, a charity sausage sizzle supported by UniBank, and free yoga. Importantly, you can find out more about the University Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. Murdoch University is the first university in Western Australia to sign this document, and it will shape the way we engage with sustainability in campus operations, teaching, learning and research going forward. This will be a casual, enjoyable hour of ‘downtime’ for yourself as well as the University’s electricity consumption. We will monitor our electricity consumption and carbon emissions avoided before, during and after the event and report to us all on Monday 1 April. You may be surprised at the positive results our collective action will generate. I look forward to seeing you there. Eeva Leinonen Vice Chancellor
