Student Support Portfolios Dear Colleagues The Student Support portfolios have seen some change of roles over the last month and so I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to some familiar faces in new roles. Library & Knowledge Management Services and Student Management have been consolidated into one portfolio. This new directorate will be known as Student & Library Services. This team will focus on supporting students in administrative areas, whilst the PVCE portfolio focuses on the more course related activities. To align with this vision the Student Success Teams will now sit in the PVCE portfolio. Matthew Evans has been appointed as Director Student & Library Services, he started in the role on 1 April. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Greg Caust for all he has brought to the Student Management portfolio. Greg came to Murdoch from a commercial background as a change agent to support transforming our practices in student management, examples of his contribution have to be “Wear It Red” which is now adopted across the whole university, plus his contribution to the new MyMurdoch ADVICE service. Greg will be leaving the university on 12 April and you are invited to wish him well at a farewell at 10:30am Thursday 11 April at Sir Walters Restaurant. The Aboriginal Education, Equity and Inclusion portfolio has also seen some change with this grouping now functioning under two areas. The first will be led by Chanelle van de Berg, as Senior Manager of Aboriginal Education leading on our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategic Education Plan, educational elements of the revised Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as overseeing Kulbardi. She will work closely with the PVC (Education) and PVC (Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Leadership). Simon Walters has been appointed as Senior Manager Access, Wellbeing and Equity, a portfolio that includes health and counselling services, equity and inclusion, as well as university wide projects SAGE Athena SWAN supporting equity across the university and Respect.Now.Always which addresses sexual harassment and assault in universities. Congratulations to all in their new roles. Thanks Romy Provost
